Members sxyryan
That is a gorgeous guitar. the 339 is a sweet little design +1 If Gibson would come out with more good designs like that, there would be a lot less hate on the interwebs I think. Members mcinku
When those were released by Gibson, I just knew I had to have one... the only problem was, that Gibsons are so darn expensive here in EU... but luckily, I was able to snatch one and now I'm a proud owner. These guitars are probably the best product Gibson released since introduction of LP and 335. ...at least to me
Members docjeffrey
Beauty! I have one just like it. Two small changes that I made were to install a non-slanted pickup surround for the neck pickup, and a lightweight aluminum tailpiece. The way the body is shaped, the neck 'bucker does a nose dive into the end of the fretboard. Also, the lightweight tailpiece gives it a bit more zing in the top end. I ordered a flat black non-slanted pickup ring from an online parts dealer for a couple of bucks. I think it's 1/2" (maybe 1/4", I can't quite remember). The tailpiece is Gotoh, again an online purchase for around $30 US. I'm sure you can find those parts up on Denmark Street somewhere. Enjoy your new 339. They are terrific instruments! Members docjeffrey
By the way, just out of curiosity, I know that your photos aren't super HQ, but the binding on my '08 ES339 is quite yellowish; yours looks white. Is it the photo?

Members Surrealistic
Very cool guitar. HNGD. BTW I remember Chelsea. They didn't make it really big but their name was always popping up in various music rags. On a similar note, I was jamming with some people back before Christmas and one of them turns out to be the bass player with UK Subs - another band formed in that era who didn't make it really big but had a few moments in the spotlight. They're still gigging.
Members Takeaway
Thanks guys for the comments. I'm glad to hear that someone remembers Chelsea too! Doc, the binding is aged like yours - the crappy iPhone camera totally robbed any quality in the image. I'm going to look for a new pup ring for the neck pickup and have already installed a lighweight Ali tailpiece from my parts drawer off my old r9. Btw, I adore the pics of your guitar; in fact they were what sold me on the cherry version. I'm my mind cherry = blues, burst = jazz on an Electric Spanish!
