Members Incubus Posted January 29, 2010 Members Share Posted January 29, 2010 I was told in the past that the way I hold my pick, without my index finger curled in, would inhibit me from gaining speed. Well I tried playing that way and just could seem to be able to strum with the pick being held in such a rigid way so I went back to this way and haven't looked back. What about you guys? Members Saturn Posted January 29, 2010 Members Share Posted January 29, 2010 I usually have my finger curled under but for strumming my index finger is more like you are holding your pick. The pick isn't attched to your fingers. You and move your grip slightly to accomplish what you want. Some times I'll grip the pick with my finger curled under and very little of the pick out from my fingers so I actually hit the strings with my finger nail before the pick for some chunky sounds.
