Members ffud
So I was at guitar center today comparing a Gibson SG standard to a SG 61 RI and my current LP Studio. I noticed that on the SG standard the way the neck was angled and the action was set made the strings pass over the pickups at an angle rather than parallel over the surfact of the pup like on the LP and the 61 RI. Pic: anyone know if/how this affects the tone since the strings are closer to one of the coils in the pup than the other?
Members EADGBE
It probably effects it some. But by adjusting the pole-pieces you can still get a great tone. It's still humbucking. If I'm not mistaken covered pickups only sense the strings via one coil anyway. The coil with the pole-pieces.
Members tlbonehead
I don't like a neck angle that severe. It feels weird to me having my palm on the bridge that far from the guitar body.
