Members Jimmy Nolen
Hello all. I have a question about a Peavey Predator on eBay. As the description indicates, the body is really beaten up but the neck appears unplayed. How likely is that? Without removing the neck or pickguard, is there a way of telling if the body is an authentic Peavey Predator, as opposed to being some other guitar with a Peavey neck bolted on? Thanks. Members wimpy77
in all honesty that body looks like mine LOL beat to hell and the neck doesn't even have a scratch on it.
Members Orange Jackson
My guess would be that the previous owner put his neck of choice on the guitar, probably a Fender, Warmoth, or the like. Then when he sold the guitar he put the unused peavey neck back on this body. Just a guess.
Members Jimmy Nolen
Thanks. In other words, it seems there's no reason not to give the guitar, and the seller, the benefit of the doubt. I appreciate the responses.

Members guitarmandp
I have not played my Predator in over 10 years. It's no doubt been played more than any guitar I have ever owned as I played the hell out of it for years until I got an American Strat for my 16th birthday. Members D34dBaWx
I can say without a doubt the body in the auction is a peavey. The bridge mount screws give it away

Members cratz2
I think they put relatively thin finishes on most that I've seen and I've seen quite a few. I've seen maybe 5 that fall into this category of the body looking 20 years old and the neck looking close to new. I'd say nothing at all on that guitar looks suspect. Members cratz2
Turser body with micro tilt??? nope Well... just because the neck plate has the micro tilt screw doesn't mean the body does as well. But I can't really imagine someone would knowingly swap the bodies around.

Yeah, I agree it's a bit farfetched, but people seem to think a lot of Peavey Predators, especially those made in the USA, and all kinds of weird things happen on eBay. Maybe if someone had one of these lying around and wanted to "enhance" its resale value.
Members D34dBaWx
Do you live in New Orleans, by any chance? Nope not in NO, just a fan. Again they would have to redrill the bridge mounts. I have owned those guitars before. Thats the same thing I owned right there.

Members lowbrow
Looks legit to me. Probably a closet queen. Many where (are). Probably got moved around a lot to get shoes out, put scateboards away, etc. All those dings look kinda like it anyway. And yes, super thin finishes. Members ExiledCrow
I've got a MIK Predator .... Overall nothing special, but I like the neck so much I dropped a superdistortion in it. If you're down with thinnish necks they can be good scores.
Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted February 2, 2010 Moderators Share Posted February 2, 2010 Dang. Good score. Are the prevalent over there? Pretty much my favorite strat type neck. No, the first I've ever seen tbh, but I see the post above says the neck is thin, so it remains to be seen how I'll get on with it. ceramic pickups? Members lowbrow
ceramic pickups? Yup. The bodies and necks are the strong point. They're OK as is, but make fantastic modding platforms. And a tip...GFS strat pickguards are a drop on fit.
