Members vickno
I'm talking about the bridge pickup in a superstrat guitar. Mahogany, alder or basswood ?P.S. The same question for D-activator.
Members panther_king
Alder or Basswood, imo. It's a 'balanced' pickup, but leans on the hot and fat side. A more balanced or 'poppy' wood would keep it from getting too warm and maybe muddy. Swamp Ash would probably sound great too. That said, EBMM makes some John Petrucci BFR models with the mahogany block, and a rosewood neck/board that have some wonderfully lush and warm/fuzzy smooth lead tones. I can't imagine it would sound as good slamming away at power chords tuned to A under high gain though.
