Members cratz2
Yeah, I have a set in an older Korean Epi Studio (all mahogany, no maple cap). Definitely a decent pickup. I had a set of Crunchy PATs in there for a while, didn't dig em. Had a set of Fat PATs which were about 10% better, didn't dig those either. Got these and I really like them. I'm more of a single coil guy, but I have one guitar with 57 Classics, one set of Seth Lovers and this guitar. This is definitely my least favorite set, but the other two ARE pretty sweet. The GFS are low output for sure. They have less output than either the 57s or the Lovers. It's been a while, but I think I replaced the caps, but left the stock pots in there but overall, they are a bit darker than I prefer. I still like them a lot, but I wish they had more highs. Being low output, they aren't really muddy, just not as bright as the 57s and Seth Lovers. I got mine used for $40 for the set but based on the tone, if you are buying new, I think they are worth the full asking price. I wouldn't be likely to change this set out unless I got a Burstbucker 1 & 2 set.

Members ermghoti II
They're dark, I really like the neck pickup, syrupy and round, but for a more versaltile sound, I'd pair it with a Vintage 59 or a VEH. The 59 is a firm, middy sound, the VEH lively and a bit louder.

I was considering one of these in the bridge of my Godin SD22 - maple body w/ poplar wings, maple neck w/ rosewood fingerboard.

I have one of the XV580s, it's so bright that it made the Vintage 59s sound like strat pickups, I got the A2s specifically for it, where they are still pretty bright. The same pair of V59s in my XV700 sounded reminiscent of Burstbuckers, the difference is all guitar.
