Members ChineseKnockoff
Can an noob w/ some prior woodworking experience do it @ home? Would a heat gun and controlled pressure do the trick, like w/ a violin or a prewar acoustic? Or is there actually more than just glue holding a set neck in there? Members -Assy-
unless it was made with titebond original or hyde glue, that neck isnt going to come out in one piece, or clean for that matter. most likely not worth the hassle. Members RaVenCAD
Just start pulling on the neck and see if it'll come out.. If it does, it's worth repairing cuz obviously it's well made. If it doesn't it was probably {censored} anyway..
Members normh
Depends on the build of the guitar. Much of the time you first build a steam injector out of an old and cheep expresso machine or from a double boiler with a small hose leading out of it. Then you remove the fret where the body meets the neck (12th fret on some guitars, 14th on others) in the slot drill a small hole down into the glue joint on each side of the body/neck joint. With a basketball/football air fill needle attached to the end of the steam hose, inject steam while gently wiggling the neck up and down. Bear in mind that many guitars are made that are not meant to be taken apart, esp Spanish Folk and Flamenco guitars.

Members atrox
On my Epi Goldtop, i have to break off the neck, chisel some out and then use a router to get the rest out. Worked great though!
