Members FarToMany
I am in the start process of building a double neck guitar, but i was wondering if some of you can post the measurements between the two necks. Right now i am looking at about 3" space between the necks, and it looks pretty good, but i was hoping to have some reference to go off of. Thanks. Members Dr_Kuh
Mine has 4" at the nut and 3.7" at the 14th fret. 3" looks way too small.

Members _pete_
On my Epi doubleneck it's 3 5/8" at the nuts and 3 3/8" at the heels. The necks are parallel, the difference is that the necks themselves are wider at the heel.
Members FarToMany
Thanks guys. I think if i keep it around 3.5" it'll be fine. My initial 3" was a real rough measurement but it sounds like i was just in the ballpark.
Members MahaloVision
I don't have one, but I'd recommend checking the archives over at www.mimf.com. This has come up before over there. Usually the necks are splayed a bit, presumably in an effort to reduce weight a little and make it a bit more comfortable to play. I've toyed with the idea of doing a 12 over 6, and my thoughts usually including shifting the 12 string neck in towards the body a bit, joining at a lower fret than usual. Most players don't do a lot of work up high on a 12 string neck, and it would help with balance.
