Members rhett_03
Hey Gang, I've run across an older Gibson that I'm pretty tempted to buy, but the "Gibson" inlay on the headstock is a funky color. I'm not sure if it's been purposely altered or if it turned this color. Ever seen this happen before? You think it's something i can fix?
Members BG76
It's the lacquer. If you were to scrape that logo with an xacto it would flake off.

Members paul44
Just looks filthy to me.I'm sure if you were to clean it up a bit (using a nitro friendly cleaner!) the logo would be a few shades lighter.Got any pics of the whole guitar? Members badbrain
yeah, it looks like the lacquer has yellowed. you could refinish the headstock face, but I think an old guitar with a new looking headstock would look odd...cleaning just the logo is an option too. personally I would leave it, some people pay good money for thing to look old. As others have said, it's aging People spend lots of money to get a specialist to make their headstock look like that. If you like the way it plays and sounds, buy it and enjoy the mojo!
