Good morning HCEG.

I'm sure this has been covered many times, but we all know how helpful that search is.

My Tele GAS is currently through the roof.

Specifically a white Tele w/maple board and all black hardware.

I've been keeping an eye out locally for a sub $300 MIM or something but nothing has turned up yet.

So I got to thinking, since whatever guitar I'm gonna get I'm going to change the hardware and pups anyway, why not just build one?

After putting together all the necessary parts for what I want (I already have a couple of little things as well) it only came to around $280 shipped.

So yeah I'm basically here to ask how the bodies and necks are from guitar fetish. Says the wood is paulowina on the one I'm looking at and I've honestly never heard of that before. I'm guessing from the price its not very desirable? Anyone know how it compares to other woods tonally?

Just looking for some input from folks who have experience with this stuff, thanks gents. :thu:

I agree with the CV recommendation. While it might be a little more than your budget, it will be worth it in the long run. If you went used, it should fall in below $300...check eBay.

With that said, I do have a GFS neck (not the current ones offered though) that I really like. I also have some concern with those lightweight bodies possibly making a guitar neck-heavy.

That was part of my concern.
In my experience outside of guitars, pine is pretty soft and light. But what do I know. :idk:
