Is anyone ever tried this?:

I have the stompbox version of the Seymour Duncan pickup booster and love it, but this appears to be a scaled down version of it. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with installing the preamp. I'm thinking of putting it into a Fernandes FR-55 XL that I plan on modifying with a booster preamp and a Seymour Duncan Parallel Axis Trembucker. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you

I've thought about these types of things (pretty sure that GFS used to sell something similar and Clapton's had a boost in his strats for years), but I'd just rather use a pedal. I just don't see how putting it inside of the guitar and having to deal with a battery in there is an advantage.

Plus looking at it there is nothing but surface mount stuff on there. I am sure that it works fine, but most people swear by full size discrete electronics for tone. It's like one of those old school 40 watt power boosters they used to sell for car stereos; it just isn't going to sound as good as a well made amp rated at the same power.

Good point... Well than, I'm either thinking of going with a Torres super mid-range, or possibly the GFS "SRV Exciter" or "Clapton Woman tone" preamp. I never really use the tone control's on any of my guitar's, so I figure I'm better off using a control that will add a sound that I'm going to use
