Members jkay
I've read that a trapeze tailpiece will give result in a mellower sound, but who really knows if that's true or not. For a hollowbody, I guess it is a bit classier, but it's probably more cosmetic than anything else. It might also make changing strings a bit more difficult. Members jtr654
Is this a Standard or Deluxe they both came with Trapeze. The Standard looks like a 335 with a nonreverse Firebird headstock.
Members csm
Stopbars transmit more string vibration to the body ...
Members AndrewGG
You need to try both; there's a marked difference in feel between a stoptail and trapeze.
Members Bro Blue
I prefer the feel and sound of a stopbar.
Members jtr654
I've had both and the difference isn't that much.
Members jimo
IN my experience a Trapeze tailpeice is WAY harder to bend notes on.....much stiffer for some reason.....
Members Maxferry
FWIW, stop-bars are usually associated with 335 type bodies that have a center-block, and are really "semi" hollow bodies, whereas trapeze tailpieces are usually found on "true" hollow bodies that lack the center block, such as ES 295, Epiphone Casino, et al. Obviously, the trapeze tailpiece will allow the top to resonate more freely on a true hollow body; on a guitar with a center-block, I can't see that it would make any difference at all, except cosmetically. Guitars lacking the center-block resonate nicely and sound very warm and tactile, however they are also a lot more prone to feedback at higher volumes...which can work for you or against you. I used to play a 1956 ES-295 in a power trio and was able to get some really nice feedback-sustain with it, however I had to be careful not to let it run away.
