Hi, looking for a bit of advice from my fellow HC'er guitar builders.

 

I want to add some strat contours to my tele body I'm building. I would like a tummy cut and the strat contour arm contour. Could someone describe the tools and technique I would need to do this?

That will make a nice looking tele.

 

An easy way is to use a saw to cut slots along the contour, then use a hammer and chisel to knock out most of the waste, then sand it smooth.

 

 

 

An easier way is to use a large bandsaw and run the body through at a steep angle.

angle grinder, sander attachment, go nuts.

 

sometimes i save al ittle time and i route the contours so it looks like stairs, then just use the angle grinder with sander attachment to smooth them all together.

Depends. First, a pencil to mark the limits. Usually Spokeshave, planes, chisels, and a healthy dose of cabinet scraper. For some contours, the round bottom planes and shaves are the way to go.

This is what I use for the majority of work. I sometimes start it off with the rounded end of my belt sander, but I always do most with the Shinto though

Ummm I built that body above lol, it isn't daunting to me to add a tummy cut
