Floyd rose equipped guitars are a lot of fun. They can be a little tricky to set up when you are new to them. You can ask around here though and you'll get any help you might need.

As for Ebay, I like to buy from the vendors that are selling new guitars. Used items are more of a crap shoot.

thanks for reply. floyd rose is bad for changing tune.. it has to align again and again if i change the standard tuning.. is there any shortcut and effective way of adjusting the alignment of the bridge?

i live far away from usa.. so ebay is my only option:(

keep posting ur opinions.

if you want a floyd, get the BC rich Jr V. one of the most underrated guitars out there. I was amazed at how nice mine is and its an amazing value when you think about the parts that are on it. If you dont want the hardtail, get the caddy or the LTD whichever floats your boat. I prefer the neck on the dean but thats me.

i'd go for the ESP myself, just like em, im sketchy about lower end BC riches and deans? well theres pointy and then theres pointy..

floyd roses you just gotta live with. if you want a diff tuning, then you gotta have it setup for that tuning. unless.. theres no recess and its sits flat against the guitar body, then you can use a dtuna for dropped D. when employing dropped tuning across the board you should really set it up fo it as the neck tensions gona be different and you may encounter string buzzing

I've heard that both Dean and BC can have great build quality and very poor build quality and that they're quality control is horrible on the overseas models this is just what I heard about BC Rich and Dean, I haven't owned either but have played a few. Having said that, I love the way the ESP LTD feels. the Deans felt great too, but what I heard scared me off. I'm not a Floyd fan, but have heard that OFR's are the way to go, so if you're getting a guitar with a floyd, try and get one that's a real floyd not licensed. Some of the deans have a V neck too, so that's also something to think about.

As for pups I like passives, but actives are cool too, I just don't like the sound of them, that's personal preference though, you should listen to clips if you have no way to try them. Seymour duncan combos, jb/59 are a good choice for a thick sound, the emg 85 is great for metal chugging. It's a really hard choice, and something you have to try to figure out what you like and don't like. The ESP LTD has a 24.75 scale and a thinner neck then the Deans, so if your hands are smaller it might be the best choice, and it's also not super metal, it can do anything, and so could the others, but it's a pretty classic body style and will have a great sound and build quality, and if you can't try a bunch of guitars, the ESP LTD is probably the way to go if it's true what I hear about BC and Dean, as almost all ESP LTDs have had a very similar build quality, from one to another.

I'm a recent ESP convert! I love my Eclipse II. The LTD is essentially the same, but it has some cool upgrades like the Tonepros locking hardware and Earvana nut. So even though the EC1000 is $600-$700 cheaper than the ESP version, it has some sweet upgrades that the ESP does not.

If you play a lot on the upper frets, you should try the EC1000 before you buy. You might be better off with the M or H 1000 or even the Viper 1000.

The fit and finish on my Eclipse is simply beyond belief. It's literally perfect in every way including the setup. There are two guys In N. Hollywood, CA who open every ESP and LTD box from Korea and Japan; then they set each and every guitar up to factory specs and test everything.

Honestly, I would have bought the LTD, but my wife sprung for the ESP as a Christmas present. The EMG 81/60 pickups that came with my guitar are tremendously flexible. The 60 works great for hi-fi sounding cleans, and the 81 cooks like a George Foreman Grill.

I really like this one:

Gotta take exception to the perfect setup for Ltd's I have recieved two that were horribly set up. the action and intonation both needed major adjustment. I'm not talking minor tweaks for preferance, but major adjustment. That said, they were still fine guitars once I got them dialed in.

To wetsponge- You really need to go play one of the bcrich Jr v's Might not be your thing but the build quality is top notch and with EMG 81/85's and an OFR as stock parts, the quality is up there with much more expensive guitars. probably the best value out there for what you get. The looks of it, I get it, not everyones cup of tea but the quality is pretty good.

I've never owned a BC Rich, but I owned 3 Dean Guitars: a Razorback USA (that I still own), a Razorback V USA and a Razorback "Union Jack" made in Korea.
I have to say that none of them took my breath away.

The Razorback V USA needed an heavy fret leveling, my luthier also had to uninstall and reinstall from scratch the Floyd Rose because the trem claw's screws were mounted wrong.
The nut originally installed was a R2 (for a 1 5/8" nut width) while the actual nut width is a standard 1 11/16", so I also had to replace the nut.

The other Razorback USA (the one I still own) and the Korean Razorback Union Jack are good guitars.
But I don't actually see where the 3.000 $ difference in price reflects in actual differences in quality: of course the USA has an original floyd rose, the finish is more accurate, maybe the selection of the woods is more accurate...but more or less the guitar is the same and sounds the same.
Both of them sounds well, with a deep and aggressive tone...but I guess that the SD dimebucker has a strong impacto on the tone of the guitar.
I don't find very comfortable the V shape of the neck.
The fretboard is fast, but less than a Jackson.

According to me a used USA jackson that can be bought for 200 $ more than a (new) Korean Razorback blows away both a USA Razorback and a Koren Razorback.

alder or mahogany? which is preferable?

i know that EMG active pickups works best on a fixed bridge guitar than a floyd. how much true it is? another issue is i may prefer thinner frets so i can go fast.

and guys plz consider the price also. if u can mention them .. some of those guitar on ebay are available at lower price. are they ok with just minor finishing flaws? what do u guys think?

i may buy a guitar from ebay. and the guitar is Dean RZR V-255 with emg pickups. please write a review about this guitar.

thanks
