Members turnip
Does anyone else notice this? It seems that no one keeps the trem arm in any of their guitars, and just throws them away. Nearly every guitar w/trem is missing the trem bar in Ebay auctions. What are these people doing with their bars?

Members ending_zero
Has nothing to do with Ebay. You'll find the same on Craigslist, in pawn shops, and in music stores. Used guitars with trems are almost always missing the arms. It's probably been this way since Fender started making Strats.
Members smorgdonkey
The answer is that the better part of the general public is made up of boners.
Members turnip
But where do they go? What do they do with them? Why is it so hard for people to just toss the trem arm in the case or a drawer?
Members PDbyS
But where do they go? What do they do with them? Why is it so hard for people to just toss the trem arm in the case or a drawer? Because they never used them and can't figure out where they put it. I found mine in a pile of VHS tapes. Members mike42
This is an excellent question. I've wondered what exactly you do with a trem arm besides using it with a guitar. It's a little like the countless used cars with no spare tire.

Members rusholmeruffian
Not thread worthy, man...here It's not that easy. A lot of vibrato units, especially locking units from the time before licensed Floyds because ubiquitous, have non-standard arms. Screw-in arms might be threaded differently; pop-in arms might have a different shape on the bottom.
Members turnip
Not thread worthy, man...here It's not the fact that I can't get a trem bar for the guitar (although, as rusholmeruffian said a lot of older trems had guitar-specific bars that are very hard to come by today) it's the fact that they aren't there. Where do they go? Who takes the trem bar off and hides it in their sock drawer? And mike42, where do the spare tires go? What else are they doing with the tires? Why did they remove it? Are they in the sock drawers?

Members BAXANDALL
I have 2 guitars with trems. I use neither trem. I found 4 arms in my closet the other day. Go figure.
