Members twotimingpete
tele pickups with the extra large pole pieces, like the duncan quarter pounder or the GFS fatbody. what do these sound like? do they still sound like tele pickups? Members Meowy
I have a Broadcaster which are oversized but not humongous like those you mentioned. It is very Tele sounding
Members bsman
I had the GFS fatbody neck in a partscaster. It was definitely one of the best tele neck pickups I've ever used -- much more articulate and less muddy than the run-of-the-mill tele neck. To me - sounded pretty close to a strat neck PU. Members Mac_C
The Duncan and GFS are not the same at all. The Quarter Pounder is a very hot, more P-90ish, sounding pickup (17k) whereas the GFS is a 7k or 10k pickup with much more of a twangy Tele tone. Agreed.I paired up a SD Quarter Pounder on the Bridge and an SD Minihumbucker on the neck of a semihollow Tele. HUGE sound but it still sounded like a Tele. Maybe not a traditional Tele but Tele none the less.
Members Uncle Bastard
I've got a Fatbody in the neck of my Affinity Tele- it sounds so damn good I'm probably going to put an overwound Fatbody at the bridge.
Members zuzuman
The GFS FatBody neck pickup is one of my favorites, too. The FatBody bridge is good, but not noticeably better than many other moderately hot tele bridge pickups (Fender Alnico III, Fender Texas Special, or even GFS 60s hot alnico.) Great discription, articlate and really cuts through the mix in a 2 guitar band. My favorite all time tele neck pup.
Members vintage clubber
Schaller used to make a T-6 tele bridge pickup with 6mm alnico pole and it measured in at about 13-14K if I remember correctly. Stew Mac sold them years ago but I can't find any dealers in the US who have them. the one I had was a nice pickup.
