Members DaveAronow
I just threw down this little bass riff for fun to see if anyone wanted to add guitar . It is not a whole song, just a little riff, so not worthy of the weekly jam that Frets hosts or anything. The part is pretty repetetive, the progression doesnt change, and the drums/pattern are a very basic drum machine pattern, but I have a good time jamming over this little riff so I thought I would share it. I'd love to hear what YOU would play over it if you were the guitar player. Thanks, Y'all http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=794691&content=songinfo&songID=8788573

Members DaveAronow
Cool. Now that I see a little interest, I think I will make the drums better, and I will make the song longer, as it seems the song(riff) kinda sounded like it was running out too fast on Frets just as he was getting into it. I think it might have faded too fast. Ill make it longer, and do something a little more interesting with the drums.

I have a fairly heavy version I did too, though not as heavy. Im trying to get a clean version to upload on soundclick but somewhere in the conversion, the file keeps getting distorted, cracks, pops, clicks, etc that arent there in protools, or on my itunes. I keep trying different conversion methods but cant get it claen. Ill keep trying.... Love all y'alls stuff!!

Members wagdog
A chance to jam with Dave?! For real? Can't pass that up! Here's my take.... http://wagner-usa.net/tunez/bassb-wag_mixdown01.mp3 It's a bit dirtier then I usually play, but I'm using the stock amp models on my old br-8 recorder and the clean tones sound, well, pretty bad. Can't use an amp right now (wife is sleeping!). Anyway, cool jam. Played my srv strat (neck pickup) on both the rhythm and lead track. Got a hair sloppy at the end - was fun though. Good jammin' with ya Dave!
Members metalheadUK
I really enjoyed this...Thanks Dave! I started off by laying down Left/Right Rhythm tracks, and I thought this gave it a bit of a Sex Pistols feel. Followed it up with the main repeated lick on the bridge pickup, and the solo on the neck pickup of my LP Classic. Tried to nail it down, keep it simple and emphasise the hook! Hope you like it man! http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8791788

Your tones were all great, and I loved the chugging rythm underneath the solo part. The solo, melody was very catchy very hooky and is exactly the kind of thing I had in mind when I did my own version, (which I am still trying to get a clean upload on). You also nailed the change at the end of the riff which has the potential to be tricky because the key you choose to play can be left open to interpretation at that point. My intentions seemed obvious to you, and you just did a killer job on this. THANK you! Thank you, Mark!!! It is awesome to have a piece of music that I can point to and say we jammed together on!!! Loved what you did!.
Members DaveAronow
Oh well, I cant seem to get a clean file conversion of what I did on this with guitars, so I am going to post it anyway. Hopefully y'all can tolerate the cracks and pops. It plays perfectly on all my monitoring sources, just sounds bad on soundclick for some reason. Oh well, it is sloppy playing and nothing I would keep without alot of fixing and tweaking anyway, but here is what I did with it in case anyone is curious.... The beginning staccato percussive part was played by bouncing a plastic deoderant stick shell( just what I grabbed at the time) and then panning each successive beat left and right. This was recorded on a Tele bridge position with a line 6 pod 2.0, dont remember the preset or settings. I wouldnt call the performance, or tones, "keepers" but it is the general idea of something I would do. Thanks to everyone. I am having a blast with this! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=794691&content=songinfo&songID=8790266 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=794691&content=songinfo&songID=8790266

Thanks Dave! It was fun to have something to do last night. I listened to all the ones posted so far - it's cool how so many people can get a different direction on the same line and still make it sound so good. Really like MHUK's - just the right amount of "jump", melody and edge - great playing.
