GAS relief

The local Long and McQuade had a weekend sale this past Friday and Saturday.

 

I have been considering how to spend my annual "wellness Benefit" and voila, picked up a used Fender deluxe players strat (C$399) with hardshell case, and a used TS9 (C$80) both in mint condition

 

Some very useful tones out of the guitar and I don't miss the 60 cycle hum one bit.

 

Gotta like L and M- if neither works out, they give you 30 days return policy, no questions.

 

So far so good

 

Now, for next year...

was also looking at a used 65 ( I think) RI Princeton reverb for $600. Sounded to clean, a little brittle compared to the 10 inch mesa 5-25 express I'm currently using. Great little amp BTW

Brought the strat to band practice last night. I was disappointed.

I assume it is the noiseless P/U's but this thing sounded flat, with the exception of the bridge PU

Sounded good in the store and at home at bedroom levels.

Ah well, I will take advantage of L and M's 30 day cash return policy and keep searching for another toy

Ah bummer. But you're right, you gotta get it into a band situation to really try it out. The noiseless pickups are the same from the American Deluxe strats aren't they?

Not sure if they are the same spec as the american deluxe but the Fender site indicates they are american noiseless P/U's

Too bad. The neck is also just OK-not sure what model it is-but i could overlook that if not for the tone, and I'm not sinking more money into changing out the p/u's
