Members Will Chen
Just saw their new Shred Suite and man, it looks cool. 6 amps with the ability to mix and match the components to make your own. I haven't got a chance to play with it yet (my new sound card won't get in until tomorrow) but it sure looks sweet and the Shred name is perhaps a misnomer as it appears there are some lower gain models as well. Members Will Chen
So can I just DL this and then plug my guitar into my 'puter and then BAM? I use them within SONAR. Not sure if they have their own VST host (I don't think they do).
Frets99
So far so good. This things got a bunch of pre-sets that already sound cool and are tweakable. Ran through most of them and am impressed. Some of the cleaner sounds were really nice and very authentic sounding. Gonna go back and play some more. I'm using the VST through Reaper. Members Into Nation
Wow, I'm impressed. Here's a short clip with the Shred rhythm and the Super 72 lead. I used the delay and reverb included with the model. Thanks for posting, Will.
Members cratz2
I only have Audacity loaded. Can they be used together or should I install Reaper? Where do I go? What option to I use on Audacity to make it recognize this? I have it loaded, but... uh... I guess I'm an idiot.
Members Into Nation
I was never able to get the native VST GUI to work with Audacity. I'm using Reaper.

What option to I use on Audacity to make it recognize this? I have it loaded, but... uh... I guess I'm an idiot. I just set it up on audacity 1.3. Just run the installer and it should show up in your effects tab. Don't know if it works in the older version. edit: if you are using the older version you have to download some vst helper (or something named similarly) For other pre-amp effects from acmebargig in 1.3 you need to go into your preferences and tell it to check for new plug ins after you put the files in the plug in folder. Members cratz2
Thanks guys. I was using 1.2.6 and had the VST Bridge or something like that, but I'm downloading the Beta now. I'm not nearly as dumb as I sound.

Members Fusion1
Never used Reaper before but just downloaded it. How do you get to add the VST plugins and how do you get to hear the different amp models?
Frets99
Never used Reaper before but just downloaded it. How do you get to add the VST plugins and how do you get to hear the different amp models? When you install the VST plugin, install it to a directory under Reaper. In Reaper set the options/preferences /plugins/Vst to the directory under Reaper where you are installing the VSTs.
Members Fusion1
What folder within Reaper should I direct the plugin towards? Then what do I need to do to hear the plug in? Start a new project, record a track? I just want the quick and dirty to be able to jam with these plugins and maybe just record the basic track if I stumble onto something interesting. Members cratz2
If there isn't a folder named 'Plug-Ins', I'd make one. Install Shred into that directory during the installation, then point Reaper to that directory for it's plug-ins. I have Audacity loaded. I installed the new Audacity, installed Shred pointing it to the Plug-In directory, opened Audacity, and go to the Effects tab and 'Acme Bar Gig Shred' listed right there. Im not the most computer literate person. When I cant figure something out, I usually revert back to oldschool methods and start whacking stuff with hammers and such. I think it creates one called plugins. If not create one called VST and put your vst's there when they ask for a place to stick em. Also have Reaper either point to Plugins or VST (whichever you choose) Starting a new project in a new folder is how I usually start. Keeps things orderly. Once you do that, insert a new track. Arm the track to record. Set record monitoring to on. (little speaker looking thing that shows up when you arm the track to record. Choose your FX, which in this case would be Shred, etc and you're in business.
Frets99
I've gotten VST's from Acmebargig before. They have a nice one called Dig Suite. This is the neck HB on my Tradition tele played through a setting called clean presence. http://www.box.net/shared/vcicn2jb4m (I don't usually fingerpick on my electrics... )
