Freaking hot man, even tho theyre something
I
wouldnt buy (thin neck, jumbo frets, not hardtail) i still really like those new charvels, plus that paintjob is incredible

Thanks! I dont think the neck is thin though. I used to have an ibanez prestige RG and *THAT* was a thin neck, had to sell it because it would be too uncomfortable for my hands to play for extended periods of time. The charvels are pretty meaty sized necks, not quite like a gibson 50's but certainly not a shredder thin/wide neck. More like a broken in C shaped fender w/ rolled edges and oiled finish. If you haven't tried one in a store, give one a whirl next time you can and see what you think.

Hand-signed? 1 of 25? Dare I ask how much?

Is this the one you were posting about the killer deal on maybe two or three weeks ago?

Flames aren't really me, but it's a great guitar. I'd strongly consider a black So-Cal Style 1 if I found one locally for $650 or so.

No, this one wasn't the killer deal. that deal was for a San Dimas in taxi cab yellow for $699 at dexter music (still avaialable last time i checked). I had considered buying that instead and having it sent to Mike Learn for custom paint in a bengal finish like this:

That woudl have ended up around the same price as the blue flame when all said and done, but my wife loved the blue flame better, so I went that route.

This one was $1249, plus I gave my dealer friend a $100 finders fee because i appreciated his effort. I also bought a new fender SKB case instead of the gig bag (i don't use gig bags, just a personal preference of mine). BTW the new fender cases are very nice!

This is the first guitar i've ever paid full list price on. I feel really crappy about that, after all I generally hop on crazy bargains (my wolfgang was $468.. my axcess was ~%1600.. EJ strat $700.. etc), but given its relative low production numbers I pulled the trigger. Doing my part to kick start the economy! :thu:

these are hand painted by some dude named Mauricio Luna. This one is #21 of 25. If you look at pics of others, the flames are all different, so they are definitely not a cookie cutter graphic. Charvel claimed they were "graphic" which implies non-custom paint, which i think did a disservice to some of the potential buyers out there. I had a friend at NAMM this year and he scoped the demo out for me, and confirmed my suspicions that these were hand painted, so I figured what the heck.

I wanted to pick up a SD1 anyway, and this just seemed like a good complement to my SoCal.

Heck yeah then... $1300 isn't bad at all for something like this. I was fearing somewhere north of $2,500.

One of our local Charvel dealers has a custom shop line of guitars made specifically for them and they are all like $2,200 or $2,300. They even have vids of them being made on Charvel's website. They have the recessed jack on the back, surfy colors and matching headstocks. Kinda sweet, but I would much rather have the black or orange So-Cal Style 1.

I've always dug Charvels with the Strat headstock. The only problem with guitar for me is the Floyd. I'm all about the non-locking vibratos with graphite or roller nuts and locking tuners. But a maple boarded super-Strat is always a nice thing. It's also about as "flashy" as I'd be willing to get with a finish. Blue and maple are two of my favorite ingredients for guitars.
