Members sgt mukuzi
Hi all. I've just watched the Gibson Custom shop tour video and noticed a box of completed fretboards. do Gibson get another company to make the fretboards, box them up and send them to the CS? seems odd to me that the fretboards are completed before being glued to the necks.another thing about the video tour is that it looks like piece work, i thought Gibson stoped that in the 80`s. not bashing them, i own and love my gibson, but not sure about the pre made fretboards and the piece work in the custom shop. anyone know why the CS make the gats this way? Actually fretboards are often built at other companies - PRS does this with a company in Waldorf MD who build all their fretboards. Rosewood is a very dangerous wood - the sawdust is toxic and a clean room of sorts needs to be dedicated to the fretboard work.
