Members ILikeGuitar
Sellin one of my strats to get an humbuckin solidbody... Probs not going to buy a Gibby standard right now seeing as how I'm poor, not a rockstar or gigging and don't want to pay tha extra thousand+ bucks for that extra 10% of tone. I've tried the faded studio/special LPs and SGs and while they sound good I'm not sure I like the rough feelin wood. Soo I'm interested in agile or epi. Anyone have clips of an AL-3100? That would help me out alot. Youtube doesn't have much. The one con is the 1 5/8 nut width Buutttt the Epi has a rosewood board and iffy lookin block inlays This got my interest goin vs. Shmanks
Members soliloquy
head over to Agile Guitar forum. tons of folks there with clips. there is a gibson/agile shootoff on youtube too
Members ILikeGuitar
Hmm just found that shootoff thing on youtube of the 3000 vs gibby. Gibby def sounds better but could be closer with upgraded pickupsI just hope I don't get a turd if I order one... this seems like the cheapest way to get an ebony board though
Members soliloquy
for the nut, you could always order a wide, with is just a bit wider than the 1 11/16 that gibson/epiphone uses. also, the shootoff thing, you should take it with a grain of salt. yes, the gibson sounds better in 2 of the videos. but does it sound 3000 dollars better than the agile? not really. throw on better pickups, and you're golden. and you 95% likely wont get a turd. if you somehow do, you can always exchange it, or return it for your money back, so you really have nothing to lose. i would recommend getting a 3000M guitar just to have an added bonus of a maple cap. perhaps get a used one as kurt recently boosted the price of those guitars... Yeah that's what I said in my first post, don't wanna spend thousands for a slightly better sounding guitar, new pups are cheap Yeah I have a 1.75" acoustic and that's a little too wide, feels good to finger pick but I flat pick worse. I saw the price on the new 3000M and its the same price as a used gibby studio, prob won't get that unless it's used like you said HMMM Agile - ebony board (pro) and narrow nut (con) or Epi - Regular nut (pro) and rosewood/bad inlays (con)
Members ExiledCrow
My Epi works fine for me, but it was under $300, and if were looking over $300 I think I'd pop for the Agile. There's a rootbeer spalted that looks very tasty!
