Members Les Paul Lover
I've tried a vigier expert: Same as above except white pick guards & white pick ups. Glassier than a Strat, warmer than a Strat. Nicer neck than a strat. (Lovely flamed neck all the way......... just superb!) Incredible playability. Have I mentioned the superbly flamed neck??? A thing of beauty, I dare say. It had the Di Marzio Virtual Vintage DP405 (neck & middle) and DP406 (bridge) pick ups. All in all, that was more of a strat than a strat is. I want it pretty bad

Members ExiledCrow
Yeah, but you're in the wrong place for GAS-resistance .... I know at my skill level I could never bring myself to spend that much, but I'm surely going to encourage YOU to ... So's I can drool all over the NGD pics! Members Les Paul Lover
I'm not sure what the exact difference between these two guitars were, but I tried this vigier next to a MIA standard strat, and it made the fender feel and sound cheap - through a Vox AC30.Simply delightful. Members Les Paul Lover
I didn't mean to..... The thing is, I'd been gassing for a strat for a long time. When I saw that one in the shop I thought I'd try it too....Big mistake.... Strat GAS gone now. I'm reading the specs, it's pretty impressive really (as if the sound/tone wasn't enough!!!!):- ball bearings tremolo- graphyte nut- zero fret- lock tunersAlder body & incredibly flamed neck with carbon insert instead of truss rod....Oh my.... I need more money.....It's just like my rockerverb 50, I wish I hadn't tried it.... I HAD to buy it after......

Members timmay8612
Forgive my newbishness, but whats the advantage to a zero fret? Better intonation or something?
Members Les Paul Lover
You may have noticed an ever so slight difference in tone in open chords between fretted chords notes and open stringed chord notes. The zero fret takes care of that. Joe fat fish - indeed, not a strat all. Just soooooo much more than a strat!!!!!
Members timmay8612
So an open string note sounds the same as a fretted note?
Members Les Paul Lover
Yeap. That's all there's t it - finer balance is what it's all about. The zero fret is a common feature on all gipsy jazz archtop guitars. Not so common with electrics though.

Members gh0st
How is it possible to be "glassier" yet "warmer"? Total contradiction
Members 211dave112
not bad...except for the headstock...just looks all wrong to me... definitely, i think i actually like the body shape a bit more than a standard strat, kinda of like a strat mixed with a fender lead II. kind of. Members 211dave112
How is it possible to be "glassier" yet "warmer"?Total contradiction well ite depends how you characterise those definitions. To me, the "glassiness" of a guitar is the sheen, clarity and texture of the top end. Warmth to me is the fullness and thickness in the mids and low mids. There's no reason a guitar can't have a clear crisp top end and solid mids and lows.
