Members thelemac
I picked up one of these at best buy yesterday for $150.00 in the box-Brand-new. Has anyone changed the pick-ups, added a tone knob, or changed the switch. This thing is light as a feather and plays great. I am just not a fan of basically all of the electronics on it. Looking to throw a regular 3 way switch in her, some p-90s and a tone control. Has anyone done something similar? What changes did you have to make-Do p90s fit etc... Members tim gueguen
That strikes me as a poor choice of guitar to contemplate mods on. Its just too much its own thing to make them easy or probably productive.
Members thelemac
I was hoping for just a drop-in set of pick-ups and to wire up a tone control and put it where the pick-up selector is and then put in a les paul type 3-way switch. It shouldn't be too intrusive. Maybe even a push-pull switch and put a 3-way to replace the current switch. I just think that this guitar is about a 7/10 and with a little work it could be a solid 9/10.
Members GAS Man
I picked up one of these at best buy yesterday for $150.00 in the box-Brand-new. That's a helluva score. Check out www.dimarzio.com I'm pretty sure some of their soapbar pickups would fit. You can get some humbucking P-90 from DiMarzio which might sound better than the stock Yammies. I have a white one that I bought shortly after they were introduced.

Members HoobaStunk
There's no reason to do anything with the pickups; those are actually excellent pickups. If you want to mess with ANYTHING on that model, do something about the crap pickup selector.
Members Jkater
I picked up one of these at best buy yesterday for $150.00 in the box-Brand-new... I don't get it. Those are 419 euros at thomann (usually the best price in Europe). That's about $600!!! I understand your desire to mod it and make the guitar work for you especially if it's a nice player. But this is such a special unique guitar that part of me think I would just leave it original. One day they'll be discontinued (as most Yammies tend to) and you might like that it was kept stock. Is there a way to mod the electronics in a way that is reversible?

I've seen a couple of blowouts of the RGXA2 in the past at Guitar Center, something like $229. The last blowout was about a year and a half ago. I mentioned (above) the crap pickup selector switch. The pickup selector is a small volume pot knob that you have to grip fairly hard to turn. If this was simply replaced with a chicken head (pointy) type of knob, it would make the guitar a LOT more usable. By the way, the bass version of the RGXA2 (RBXA2?) is actually quite nice. I've not seen a blowout on the bass version yet, though, it might have happened once and I did not know about it.
Members w00dsy
i played one in a shop once and was amazed at how nice it was. I'd like to get one at some point, great guitars. Very unique. It's like Apple made a guitar.

Members thelemac
Took a little tinkering but I think I got it where I want it. I lowered the bridge pick-up and put another spacer in the neck pick-up to bring it up. Much more balanced now. It's really a shame that these never caught on they are great little guitars. Pick-ups are still a little hot for my tastes but I can deal with them. A tone control would really make this thing versatile.
Members Gorgula
Do any of you guys know what value the volume pot is on this guitar? It should be a dual pot 10K/500K or 10K/250K. The 10K is for the LED's, but what is the value for the volume? Is it 500K or 250K? Could one of you guys open yours up and check it out for me? Thanks! Members Fusion1
I've always wanted one of these? Is that a store wide sale on these at Best Buy for $150 or was it your particular store? For $150 I'd pick one up.
