Members Mr. Fahrenheit
So I'm considering picking up a faded SG in the near future, but I definitely want to change out the pickguard from the standard black one to possibly cream or white. I've had no problems changing pickguards on my Fenders before, but I've never owned an SG and was just curious if anything complicated is involved. Will I be able to just unscrew some stuff and stick it on, or is something else required in the process?
Members jak83
Nah, it's no more difficult than swapping out on a Fender. You'll have to remove your bridge which will alter your action/intonation if you don't set it back right, but other than that you just unscrew it from the body, unscrew the pickups, and mount the other one up. Members [VictorinoX]
Going the Chris Ballew route, eh? I can dig it. But yeah, Those larger pickguards on SGs are a pain to remove because of everything else that needs to be moved as well. I have an SG Classic, and it has the same pickguard. Members Mr. Fahrenheit
So I just have to unscrew everything? That's no problem then, as long as I don't have to eff with any wiring we're good. I'd prefer chrome covers on my pickups as well, but I know that's much more involved than I want to get into. Members Salsage
Dressed up a faded a while back. No electronics for the pickguard. I went with the nickel covers and an abalone like pickguard. Some just silde covers on with no probs but wax potting is needed IMO. also pretty easy just some time. Viva Le difference ' alt='>'>

Members Mr. Fahrenheit
Yeah, that's totally rad, although I'm not too into the moon inlays. Those ones have ebony fretboards, right?
