Members ten56gibby
Cool, NB. Must ask though, what's the worst that the rubber on these hangers could do?
Members GuitarNoobie
Cool, NB. Must ask though, what's the worst that the rubber on these hangers could do? this... it melts and deforms the nitro where it touches the rubber... this is where a guy had my 73 hanging for years. don't have a pic of all the damage, just from the back side. it stretches all along the edges... Members GuitarNoobie
found some that are safe... Velveteen Rubber http://www.zzounds.com/item--MUPGS7730 http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-MUS-GS7730?SRC=D0407FG0HAMS0000&utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=feed&
Members mrbrown49
Cool, NB. Must ask though, what's the worst that the rubber on these hangers could do? The finish can react with some plastics and rubbers and essentially dissolve away. It's ugly.

Members ten56gibby
{censored}! Had no clue. That looks NASTY. Only a couple of my guitars have nitro headstocks so I need not worry for the most part. Must cover the hanger for my LP Standard.
Members drawdeep
Cool, NB. Must ask though, what's the worst that the rubber on these hangers could do? If these were the surgical-type rubber that you see on cheap stands, the chemicals break down the nitro and literally eat it off. However, String Swings are nitro-safe. I have both my Les Pauls hanging from them 24/7 (except when being played) for well over a year and not even the remotest hint of damage or discoloration, and I am sure you will find dozens of other testimonials to this as well. I have also seen plenty of music stores that use these for nitro finished guitars and they sometimes have them for YEARS with no ill effects. If you feel better covering them, go ahead, but these are fine to use as is.
