Members ARguitars
Someone's selling a 2002 Highway One Stratocaster and I'm wondering if it's legit...I thought the Highway One had on oversized headstock, but this one doesn't... Were there Highway One Strats that didn't have an 70's headstock? Here is the ad: http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAdLargeImage?AdId=190693941The seller also says there's scratches in the back because of the beltbuckle. Is it a fair price? Thanks
Members metalheadUK
The original pre upgrade Highway 1 Strats had I believe a small headstock.
Members Into Nation
Older ones had the small headstock, and vintage frets also IIRC.
Members ARguitars
Cool! Are they any good? How would it compare to an American Standard Strat?
Members homestar_kevin
That looks right. The finish looks correct and so does the headstock. They are great guitars, how much is it?
Members steve_man
Yup, I'd prefer a Highway One like that. I'm curious, too...how much?
Members ARguitars
550$. I'm hoping I could trade my Godin Freeway Classic Lightburst for it, though. Otherwise I might buy it. Is it a fair price? And how does it compare to an American Standard?
Members Guitar Heel
The older Hwys didn't have a solid steel trem block, had less expensive pickups, smaller frets, and a mid pickup that isn't RW/RP. They really updated the whole guitar in 2006. Just an FYI.

Members Mister Crow
Older ones had the small headstock, and vintage frets also IIRC. The older ones had the smaller headstock and medium jumbo frets. Newer post 2006 had large headstock and jumbo frets. I think the old ones are better, simply because I can't get along with jumbo frets. I do dig the large headstock though.
Members ARguitars
So how much do you think I should offer?
Members Guitar Heel
Well, I know that I wouldn't pay more than $450, and that's if it's in really good shape. If it were me, I'd probably offer 400. Honestly, I don't think that the quality of the pre-2006 Hwys is that much better than a MIM model, save for the finish. Members ARguitars
I guess I won't go for it then Thanks for the help!
Members elsupermanny14
Don't just give up on it. It is still a solid guitar to get. Don't give him $550 for it but try to talk to him down. $450 is a good price for it. I would buy it for $450. If you like it try to get it for cheap. If you don't there are plenty of American Standards on craigslist for under $600.
