Someone's selling a 2002 Highway One Stratocaster and I'm wondering if it's legit...

I thought the Highway One had on oversized headstock, but this one doesn't... Were there Highway One Strats that didn't have an 70's headstock?

Here is the ad: http://montreal.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAdLargeImage?AdId=190693941

The seller also says there's scratches in the back because of the beltbuckle.

Is it a fair price?

Thanks

550$. I'm hoping I could trade my Godin Freeway Classic Lightburst for it, though. Otherweise a might buy it.

Is it a fair price?

And how does it compare to an American Standard?

That's way too much, IMO. I just sold a dead mint, with tags, Hwy from 2006 (with a hard case) for $540.

Older ones had the small headstock, and vintage frets also IIRC.

The older ones had the smaller headstock and medium jumbo frets. Newer post 2006 had large headstock and jumbo frets.

I think the old ones are better, simply because I can't get along with jumbo frets. I do dig the large headstock though.

Well, I know that I wouldn't pay more than $450, and that's if it's in really good shape. If it were me, I'd probably offer 400. Honestly, I don't think that the quality of the pre-2006 Hwys is that much better than a MIM model, save for the finish.

Don't just give up on it. It is still a solid guitar to get. Don't give him $550 for it but try to talk to him down. $450 is a good price for it. I would buy it for $450. If you like it try to get it for cheap. If you don't there are plenty of American Standards on craigslist for under $600.
