Members timmay8612
Not sure where to get this kind of specific advice, so I thought I'd post here. I recently sold my Carvin Quad-x preamp on ebay, and after a little confusion about the correct name for the addressee (the buyer) I shipped via USPS with delivery confirmation and full insurance. According to my tracking info, the preamp was delivered on the 24th of Feb around noon. The buyer emailed me today to tell me that it hasn't arrived, even though the USPS says otherwise. What do I do now? FWIW I'm in process of getting the money from my paypal account to my bank account, but it was paid for.
Members Hookandcanman
Did you require signature confirmation?
Members guitarcapo
Paypal usually won't accept USPS confirmation of delivery (at least it didn't used to) They expect UPS or fedEx tracking numbers to prove delivery. USPS just leaves a package on the doorstep and walks away without s signature. Anybody could have picked it up....Including the buyer who might just be taking advantage of the fact that you uses USPS to claim non-delivery and get a free preamp. Members timmay8612
So even though Paypal had a place for me to put in the tracking number they don't accept it as proof of delivery? Is there not some way to use the delivery insurance to cover my ass?

Members guitarcapo
Well if you have a confirmation number try it...I never use USPS because before they never tracked stuff to Paypal's satifaction.

Did the buyers info come through with the Paypal receipt? You had an address - thats really all you need. When shipping via USPS like has been stated already, they require no signature and just drop the package at the door. They dont care who gets it at the address as long as it is at the address on the package. (Or in my case within a house or two. Damn neighbors are all the time bringing me my mail. One of them is fairly hot though so its okay. )
Members timmay8612
Buyers info came through on the Paypal receipt, but there was a discrepancy between the name on the receipt and the name in an email I received from the buyer. There was also a missing zip code.

Members Arr0wHead
Wow. I can't believe that I disagree with everyone of you this much. First off the questions is so poorly written that I don't even know exactly what he's asking. As for the serial number being scratched, I've seen it done on b-stock items from the factory so that the warranty is voided. I've had it both from e-Bay and from MF so I don't think that it means it was stolen. We are talking about a $213 Epiphone acoustic guitar here. There were plenty of pictures. The guitar is not damaged. If you gave me a negative feedback based on the fact that YOU didn't bother to ask me a question and based solely on an obvious mistake between scratched out serial number and something marked used or second I'd be beyond pissed. He also says that he buys them in bulk so it could be an honest mistake on his part. And if you are worried about it being stolen....well only an idiot would scratch out a serial number and try to sell it. I mean who really checks the serial number of every guitar they buy? Who knows the serial number of every guitar they own? Who would keep track of the serial number for a $213 acoustic? Scratching it out does nothing but raise flags that a theif wouldn't want. It's a nice guitar, you knew that it was marked second (in some fashion), you could see that the serial number is scratched out in the picture and he offered to take it back (minus original shipping which seems pretty fair to me). How is any of that worthy of a negative rating? Wrong ebay thread. You wanted the one next door. This is the "guy says he never got the amp I shipped him" thread.
