Members JimSF76
I play at home and do some recording for fun, so I don't want to spend stupid money. I play mostly hard rock like AIC, so anything similar to Jerry's tones throughout the years is fine. For cleans, I do love Queensryche's tones. I don't know, what do you guys recommend? Here's a pic of the guitars I'm looking to get pups for. Thanks.

Have you actually bought pickups there, and if so, how do you like them?
Members pekelnik
GFS (Guitarfetish) pickups have the reputation of best bang/buck. They are considered (in general) much superior to stock pickups on most squiers/MIM Fenders. If you want a step higher go with BG pickups. Wound by a forumite here, they are truly excellent. Bryan can wind them exactly to your specifications and they aren't that expensive IMO and worth every cent (I've bought 3 sets from him now 2 for me and 1 for my instructor). Check out his clips and also clips here on HC from a number of other forum members. Oh and he gives forum members a discount

Members recordingtrack1
I love the GFS fat PAF's I put in my Epiphone Les Paul. I bought them on faith and really got lucky. It has great crunch. The best luck I've had was on a set of Toneriders Classic Blues that I put in my MIM strat. It sounds everything I think a strat should sound. I wish the bridge was ever so slightly hotter, but it still sounds great IMO. For the money, I highly recommend them. RT1

Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted March 9, 2010 Moderators Share Posted March 9, 2010 Bryan winds a world class pup! He does and to be fait if you only have the two guitars and you wanna make them as good as anything out there, you'd be better off splashing that bit extra for something from Bryan than some GFS pups, which are OK, especially the Strat pups, but BG would be the best option
