Members craigny
Hey all, i currently own a musicman jp6 with piezo, and i really like it, however i am a huge EVH fan, and although the new Fender wolfgangs are outta range for me at 3k, there is a new old stock Peavy Wolfgang deluxe at the store and i can probably work out a trade in for. Just looking for some input..what do yall think? my question is how they match up in terms of quality and sound
Members Prages
Never played the JP Music Man, but I have two Peavey Wolfgangs (a Standard and a Special Flametop...both USA made) and I really like them a lot. Probably not as versatile as the JP, but what they do, they do very well. The pickups are 4 conductor, so if you're a modder, you can do a push/pull pot for coil taps and make them a little more versatile, though I've never bothered. Members DonK
I've owned three Peavey Wolfgang Standards - still have one - and IMO they match up in quality with anything I've owned. Sound is an ear-of-the-beholder thing, so that's up to you. While I'm mostly a single-coil guy, I love the sound of the EVH. When played clean it makes me think of a Tele on steroids; crank it through a dirty amp and it sustains for days, without the mud I associate with a lot of humbucker guitars. Members vexed73
I hope they gave you some money? The music man was worth more. You could have sold it and bought a wolfgang and a 5150. Especially with a sto tail.

Members craigny
Yeah i could have made out better if i sold the music man and then got the Wolfgang, but i diddn't want to be bothered so they worked out a good deal with me...Let me say that there is nothing wrong with the EBMM...they are great guitars unbelievable quality..but for me the Wolfgang fit me better than ANY other guitar ive played, and to me thats worth it! I feel the quality on the EBMM anf the Wolfgang is equal, and again to me i like the sound of the Wolfgang better.
