Members Brown Rug
One has single coils, the other has a bigger pickup. What's the difference in terms of sound for you guys?
Members twotimingpete
I believe thinline are semihollow which makes it have a few different characteristics from solid guitars.
Members xthefreeman
standard is going to be a little brighter, less array of sound. the thinline is going to have a more beefy sound, yet still have the resonance you need and can chill back a little. I'd say thinline > am. standard, but then again i am a bucker type of guy

Members photon9
They make a Tele thinline with singles too. I like that one a little better. IMO the Am. Stds. are slightly higher build quality and better pups. But the thinlines are still pretty nice playing and sounding instruments. And a little more unique to boot. Squier also makes a thinline tele that is much cheaper priced. I haven't had a chance to play one yet but I've heard good things about them. Members niceguy
believe it or not, but you can actually put humbuckers into an Am Standard Telecaster.

The neck is routed for one but the bridge is not. Yes you can still route the bridge for an HB if you don't care about the impact to the resale value.
