Members thick_mike
That's just wrong. Maple f/b and dots means it is not an SG.
Members bengerm77
so is the neck AND the body made out of maple? Is the body a maple cap on a mahogany body? I'm not sure what I'm seeing. And yes, these guitars need chrome pickup covers
Members JoeFatFish
Strat wanabe. No way as good or better sounding than an American Std Strat with mable board. Just saying man...
Members PunkKitty
I really like the white, black and yellow ones. Chrome covers would be nice but not necessary. I haven't been able to find a price for them, but I'll keep them open as an option in the next few years.
Members Ralph onion
899 at Z and a 3 piece maple neck. Nitro finish. I thought I was going to GAS out for a while but damn, here we go again. Can't wait to play one. Dammit!
Members jtr654
It just looks Wrong.
Members EADGBE
They ought to make a neck-through shredder SG with an original Floyd Rose. Sort of like this.
Members roners5
I like the white one- wouldn't jump for 899 though. and eadgbe, surprisingly, I actually like everything about that abomination you posted
Members lp_junkie
Being that I don't like maple fretboards and not particularly a fan of the SG to start with I'd pass.
Members vexed73
I hate maple bodied guitars!!! Unless you have a dark amp and dark effects what an ear bleeder.
Members Metalrulez
The maple neck looks off to me but that is only because I have spend close to 50 years looking at SG's with rosewood or ebony boards. I have not played one but I am sure they can rock the house.
Members cbh5150
Actually, this thread got my curiosity for these back up. So I did some research. The Raw Power series was released/announced on April 1st, 2009. Less than a year later, guess what? They are already discontinued The GCI sites and AMS don't have them listed; Zzounds and SA have limited remaining stock. Score another victory for Gibson - at least these weren't the colossal failures on a cost basis that the Robots and Dark Fire were (and soon I predict the Dusk Tiger)
Members aclarke
Would look better with a maple headstock.
Members HanSolo
It's just wrong. Nothing is sacred anymore.
Members notjonahbutnoah
The headstocks are black.... that makes it look weird to me. I bet if they had made nice looking maple headstocks, and chrome covers, more people would've liked it. Ima plus my one for the all maple guitar hatred, bad idea. Members Josh S
I just can't deal with maple necks on Gibbys. Doesn't work for me.
