Members rasputin1963 Posted February 17, 2010 Members Posted February 17, 2010 "Forty-seven years ago today....." as our Booshy would say. My berfday party is tonight. Yummy Thai food in store! It'll just be me, my Mom and Stepdad. Maybe my younger sister Jena, aged 43, might show up. Spring rolls with fish sauce, lemongrass hot 'n' sour soup, satay on skewers with peanut sauce, and decadent coconut-milk curries. Just what is one supposed to do with one's life when he turns 47, anyway?? It's a strange kind of repeat-adolescence: I'm neither young nor old. I'm not a teeny-bopper yet I'm not subscribing to AARP yet, either.

Reminds me of that T-shirt slogan one used to see in the 80's: IF I HAD KNOWN I WAS GOING TO LIVE THIS LONG, I'D'VE TAKEN BETTER CARE OF MYSELF. To think I used to dance around my bedroom in 1979, singing along with my Blondie record: "DIE YOUNG! STAY PRIT--TAY" jO5VV5PISHU
Members Jeff Leites Posted February 17, 2010 Members Posted February 17, 2010 That's a George Burns quote. At 47, you should be old enough to know who that is Happy Birthday!
Members ggm1960 Posted February 17, 2010 Members Posted February 17, 2010 It took me a long time to come around after spending a large part of my life as a DUI bar hopping biker. My odometer will turn over the big five 0 mid year but I finally found a good women a few years back and got myself straightened out a bit. I haven't been arrested, done any illicit drugs or drank to excess for a number of years now and I've managed to turn a rather large deficit in an even larger surplus.

Members nat whilk II Posted February 17, 2010 Members Posted February 17, 2010 Meditate on the fact that, 10 years from now, you'll say, "Gee I wish I was 47 again. The things I could do if I just had those ten years back!" nat whilk ii

CMS Author MikeRivers Posted February 17, 2010 CMS Author Posted February 17, 2010 You don't look a day over 65, Mike Maybe so, but it's obvious from my latest Harmony Central video that I need a teleprompter instead of my notes. That is, if I were able to see that far.
Members John Sayers Posted February 17, 2010 Members Posted February 17, 2010 Happy Birthday - you are now entering your numerological "4" cycle - the past 3 years you have resorted your life, ditched some old friends, gained some new ones, possibly moved house - the 4 cycle is about planning and organising what you are now going to do with this new life aspect.

Members rasputin1963 Posted February 18, 2010 Author Members Posted February 18, 2010 HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR It's the year of the METAL TIGER: highly unpredictable, but at least it's better than the Ox year (2009)... which sucks for Water Rabbits like meself...

Just accept that you are all grown up and not 25 anymore and get on with your life (whats left of it) Oh Yeah; Happy Birthday to you.
Members Jeff da Weasel Posted February 18, 2010 Members Posted February 18, 2010 You are beyond middle age. No. Middle age is the period of life beyond young adulthood but before the onset of old age. Various attempts have been made to define this age, which is around the third quarter of the average life span of human beings. According to Collins Dictionary, this is "... usually considered to occur approximately between the ages of 40 and 60". The Oxford English Dictionary gives a similar definition but with a later start point "... the period between youth and old age, about 45 to 60". The US Census lists middle age as including both the age categories 35 to 44 and 45 to 54, while prominent social scientist, Erik Erikson, sees it ending a little later and defines middle adulthood as between 40 and 65.
Members Rudolf von Hagenwil Posted February 18, 2010 Members Posted February 18, 2010 usually older men of that age fall in love with younger women, start to make sport, douche everyday and shave
Members Mr. Botch Posted February 18, 2010 Members Posted February 18, 2010 You're spending the day with family and Thai food. Sounds to me like you've already got it figured out.
