I have a chance to buy a bogner alchemist head and a beat up ampeg 4x12 stack for $500. Considering that the head is $899by it self its a good deal. Any one who has used one or owns one please chime in and tell me what you think of it!

If you didnt buy that its probably gone.

I went to GC yesterday with my little boogie combo to trade. They had two alchemist heads. They didn't work, two of them. New. I'm stubborn though, they said they would fix 'em and call me if I still wanted one. I actually still haven't played one yet, have already identified the line6 service in my area though just in case.

Any alternate suggestions? I figured not in that price range, although could probably get two alchemist heads for less than one good one (or just wait and save up). Just think I would want that warranty bare minimum before even considering it.

I'd save up. Why throw good money after bad?

Figure out what amp you'd love to have more than any other, regardless of price, then save, save, save.... you don't have to hang out on this board long to see all the anxiety and wasted time and money these guys inflict on themselves with cheap junk.

DSL 50 would be enough power. Think pjackson92 should find out about the ampeg cab speakers and go find an alchemist somewhere and play it first. A lot of people seem to be divided on the sound and feel of the alchemist.

I live in an area that has next to nothing in the amp selection so i cant go try it out. my only concern is all the reliability problems people have had with the amp. and the cab is basically a freebie

thats a good price, but i dont think you will end up keeping it very long, the tone of those amps gets so boring for some reason. you dial it in, youre like oh this is good, then after 5 minutes youre trying to redial in something else. iit gets old.
