Members stewiesguitar
I have had my amp for a few months now and its a great amp, but on a few of the settings i do get some very shrill ice picking sounds and it just kills me. i dont know why. is it the speaker or my pickups or what? i have no idea. amp is the Vox VT30

Members nighthawk15
You playing on the bridge pickup? I don't care for a bridge single coil on strats unless its through just the right setup for the exact reason you describe.

Members trashedlostfdup
it happens in any position. avoid the bridge pickup and roll off the tone knob on the neck or middle. that should do it. if you are using factory presets (since you said presets), make custom presets. i have never found good presets on any modeling amp or anything. Members docjeffrey
There are a lot of tone shaping options on those Vox modeling amps. Have you read the manual? Do you know how to edit and store your own patches? Also, you might want to turn DOWN the Power Level (on the back of the amp) and turn UP the Master Volume for fuller, less shrill tone. Members craig_in_tx
A real simple mod will let you use the tone control for your bridge PU: I use my bridge PU a LOT more now and it sounds great.

Members jpnyc
Keeping the volume on the guitar turned down instead of cranked will also really clean up strat tone.

I have my bridge p'up wired to a tone pot also. I keep it on 7 all the time. Much more balanced with the other 2.
