Members ILikeGuitar
Saw an SG standard where at the nut there were two identical cracks in the finish on both sides that outlined the "hidden" or bottom part of the nut. So the cracks kinda just outlined what the bottom part of the nut woulod look like.
Members Belva
If it plays right, WTF is the difference? Virtually every guitar that comes into my shop needs nut work. That's just a fact of life. The real problem is when you can't do your own nuts and you find one that needs a new one rather than just deepening the slots on the existing one. Members ILikeGuitar
Not really a problem, just curious if that's the only way to get a weird shaped crack in the finish like that
Members MahaloVision
Finishes shrink over time, and sometimes they crack in joint areas. Different materials also react to heat, cold, and humidity changes differently, so some cracking can occur because of that. Probably nothing to worry about unless you can physically move the nut in the slot, in which case it may not be seated properly, thicknessed properly, or just needs a drop of glue. Members scud133
yea to be honest i don't really see what the big deal is. you could always have a guitar tech craft an entirely new nut that's just how you like it
