Members JoeFatFish
I have never been a fan of really any female guitarists, and still really am not...BUT I have to say I respect the rescent in the "spotlight" female guitarists. RIP..Flash Bathoroy could kick my ass, The One Eyed Dolls girl plays pretty good, and Orianthi and The Donas guitarist...Allison Robertson, can kick butt. Is it me or are more and more chicks getting into electric rock guitar? Of the girls around now, who would you say has the best technique?...Cant forget Gabriella from Rodrigo and Gabriella, although she plays acoustic now, but she is pretty f'ing good. Members HamsterSandwich
Don't leave Jennifer Batten out of this discussion. As far as women becoming more and more prominent, I don't see anything surprising there. History is full of examples of careers, sports, activities, etc. that women have been excluded from. Sooner or later a couple of pioneers break through, and over time, attitudes change and they gain acceptance. There's nothing intrinsically male about playing the guitar. In all my years of playing I have never tried to play with either my penis or my Y chromosome. Edit: timmay8612... Good call on Kaki. I forgot about her. Members DonK
I really like Alison Robertson's playing. Haven't heard Orianthi, but just finished reading an interview with her in GP, so I plan to check out her stuff. Tal Wilkenfeld is killer on bass. And of course, Kaki King and Vicki Geffen are monsters in that acoustic tapping style, though Kaki is starting to play a lot of electric.

Members EricFoss
Orianthi is definitely a decent guitarist, but she deserves to be in spot rotation on Radio Disney. She writes competent, catchy pop tunes that kids would gravitate to...

Members JoeFatFish
troglodyte...maybe, never thought as myself as a caveman?? I mean no disrespect towards women, I just was never a fan, just being honest. I sat down and watched American Idol last night, because I knew Orianthi was gonna be playing. Have to say I am not a fan of her pop music, but I really admire her guitar work, she is badd ass! I think Allison Roberston is way cool too, I learned to play Black Sabbaths, Paranoid from her. As a kid I'd turn the chanel if M'tv played Joan Jett or any gilr bands, but as an adult I am notcing girls rocking more and more, and I like the palying. When I say I'm not a fan, just means I won't be buying Orianthi or The Donnas CD's, but definalty like checking them out on YOUTUBE. Gabriella and Rodrigo on the other hand, I do want a CD, and Gabriella is defiantly the one with the better chops of the duo.

Members JoeFatFish
Anway I started the thread to ask a few questions: "Is it me or are more and more chicks getting into electric rock guitar? Of the girls around now, who would you say has the best technique?...Cant forget Gabriella from Rodrigo and Gabriella, although she plays acoustic now, but she is pretty f'ing good"? Only got a pair of opinions to the question, the rest of you ladies (:poke:) were just shocked at my caveman post and went off tangent. Geez! Anyone care to start over and stick to the questions? I really want to know other girls I should check out? Dorks!
