Members CameltoeCurtis
Just picked up a nice tobacco burst/hardtail Wolfgang , and am thinking about a pickup swap. Something with more of a vintage vibe and not quite as harsh on the top end as the stock units. Any ideas?
Members CameltoeCurtis
Anybody? I see stock sets on Ebay all the time, so what's everyone dumping them in favor of?

Members MuyLoCo444
no way, the stock Wolfgang pickups are just...amazing. I agree. I don't see the point in changing pickups that are in a guitar designed by Eddie. I mean he put them in for a good reason. Just try and get used to them, you may find they aren't that bad. Members vexed73
I would keep the bridge pickup but would put a Dimarzio FAF JOE in the neck. You can also add push pull pots and split the stock pickups which makes the neck more useable.

I'm voting 57 classics or Burstbucker Pros. Maybe something sweet from BG Pickups? Edit: Is it F spaced? I've played a couple of those but I can't remember off hand. Members gypsyfireman
+1 I love the stock ones on mine. me too. that said, what kind of sound are you after? for a more vintage flavor, the 36th anniversary pafs from dimarzio are cost effective and have gotten nothing but stellar reviews, so far. looking for high output? modern? vintage? what do you like? personally i've always loved the way the wolfgang pups sound, and it's all about that volume knob... Members Prages
I also love the stock pickups, but if you're wanting a more vintage sound, then yeah, you probably want to swap them out. Never swapped them in either of my Wolfgangs, so I don't really have any suggestions.

A PAF Pro/ Mo Joe would work also not too hot. Dibs on the bridge pup if your selling it. Scott
Members doodie
im too, happy with the stock Peavey EVH designed pu and dont think they'll ever need to be replace. Anyway, since the stock peavey come with high gain pu so i suggest you to try them with 2 Dimarzio PAF Pro combo. I just love the combo on my lbanez PGM, they are not too hot which is great for clear sound and also great on distortion when you need them.
