Members crispyguitarist
Hey i play a Schecter c1 FR with stock active pickups.Occasionally my bridge pickup "shorts out" -suddenly its as if i rolled my volume back to about 2. It occurs on two different amps with two different cables so it must be a wiring problem in the guitar.Diagnosis?
Members inkblot
Bad pot, switch, jack or maybe a bad solder joint. Kind of sounds like the pickups are losing power, which could be caused by a loose jack or even the battery not being securely connected.

Members crispyguitarist
Also, the neck pickup never shorts out and almost seems louder and clearer most of the time. Both pickups are the same distance to the strings
Members Bob411
Well yeah, it sure sounds like it's in the guitar. I take it when you first got the guitar it worked perfect. How long have you had the guitar? How many times have you changed the batteries. Something is loose, or wires are broken. I would start where the battery hooks up. As he says, it could be any of those things but I'm guessing the jack. Pretty easy to see if it is. Take it apart and pull on all of the wires. Normally one will be already broken and just making contact most of the time.
Members Pope on a Rope
Try some lubricated contact cleaner in the pots, switches and jack before you do anything that involves replacing parts. Contact cleaner will often fix problems such as you describe. Oftentimes it's just a bit of oxidation that can be easily cleaned off.
