Members jr_vw2
What kind of sucsess have you had using one of these "internal" boost setups? I want to keep passive pickups, but give them a little more bite. Am I looking in the right direction? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400109904328&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1774wt_1022
Members Prages
I think it depends on how you play. If you play clean, the boost will actually provide a volume boost. If you play overdriven, the boost will likely just add more gain. If that's what you're after, then great, but you'll get the same thing with an EQ pedal run between the guitar and the amp. And if you want volume boost, an EQ pedal will do that too if you run it either after the OD pedal or in the amp's effects loop.
Members jr_vw2
I play only high gain stuff. I love the bite and aggresion that I get out of my active pickups, but I love the organic nature and feel of passive pickups. I just want to get a more aggressive sounding passive pickup. Plus i always like to try new things. are there any of these kits that I should stay away from or are they all pretty much the same? Thanks
Members NITROHOLIC
ROFLROFLROFL 55 bucks for that. lmfao take this schematic http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/blackice.htm with this http://www.newark.com/stmicroelectronics/bat42/schottky-diode/dp/89K1208?_requestid=242543
Members 's mel gibson
It needs a 9V battery. That's the down side of it all. What can be achieved from a pedal on the floor should stay on the floor. Don't mess up your guitar unless you can get solar panels to power the gizmo. Members jr_vw2
I wasn't speaking of this item in particular just the internal boost in general. There are tones of them out there. I don't really care about the 9v my emg's run on them just fine
Members trashedlostfdup
i have an active EMG progressive 25db boost in a jackson with EMG-HZ H4's. it sounds nice and pulls out to engage, but it increases the hiss of the amp way too much to make it usable. Members jr_vw2
That's what I was affraid of. Iborowed a friends ts-9 today and it doesn't put much hiss in my amp but it puts more than I want have you tried running a gate? Does that help knock the hiss down? Thanks for the input. Thanks for the input. unfortunately i dont have a gate. somehow i have always gotten by without needing one, and have never used that boost gigging. with either of my peavey amps, it pushes the gain way too hard, and just doesnt sound good. i can use it on the randall and the hiss isnt as bad, and it doesnt push the gain way too hard on those, it can function as a nice lead boost there, but i dont use it regularly. i use the BBE Green Screamer to boost my amp. its a ts808 and works really well on the peavy's. i also really prever the 808's to the ts9's though for boosting.
