Just came in yesterday afternoon, made by a guy in quebec, top quality parts and relicing done by him.

I must admit I used to be one of those people that dissed relics saying I would rather do the scarring myself, but there is something about picking up a guitar and already having that comfortable broken in feel.

The neck on this thing is nice and thick and you can really feel the body vibrate. Overall very satisfied with my aquisition.

Thanks! The guy got the parts and then applied the butterscotch nitro finish, assembly and relicing. Can't say I have had the opportunity to play a real 1950's tele, but this things is way better than any re-issue I have played and holds it's own against any of the older tele's I have played, (Late 60's, early 70's)

I don't think it looks bad at all. I'm no Tele guy or relic guy by any means. The builder, last time we chatted, had absolutely zero tolerance being negatively critiqued and nearly popped a blood vessel in his brain. IIRC at what he was charging for his "work" I'm almost positive you paid WAY too much but it's your money and you seem to be happy so good for you.

Relics suck because they almost NEVER look real. I can spot a home spun relic job a mile away.

This guitar is an excellent example of a relic job done right, therefore it doesnt suck.

It doesnt suck at ALL!!

HNGD.

Great looking guitar.

+1. If Fender did their roadworn tele's this way, I'd probably consider one.

HNGD!

I have followed Alains threads on GC and have noted he can get defensive at times. That being said I have absolutley no complaints dealing with him, his communications were prompt and he was a gentlman with me. As a reference I spoke with Corailz from GC and he had nothing but praise for Alain. ( I can honestly say Corailz, who I did not know before, is a great guy!)

There is actually a thread on GC in which Alain recently describes his health issues (major back problems lead to forced retirment). In it he admits he can lose his cool. Anyone who has had back problems can probably relate to that as it definatly makes you irritable. I have back problems on and off and it can affect my disposition at times, Just ask my wife;)

That being said I worked a trade with him so yes I am very satisfied. I'll agree the fact Alain is not a well known maker and makes guitars for pleasure as opposed to business would make his guitars appear to be high priced to some but that being said, based on the quality, parts used and work he puts in I would rather get something from him than walk home with an american standard. As far as parts, Alain uses top quality parts, musikraft woods, JS Moore pickups, cloth wiring, Nitro finish. This thing is solid, and you can really feel the wood when you play. neck is nice and thick and feels really solid. This thing is a nice repro of a 50's telecaster down to the period correct output jack. relic job is without question one of the best I have seen.

He's got a sweet white relic tele for sale with a humbucker in the neck which I really came close to going for and last time I checked he was asking $1000 Canadian for it. So really there is no doubt in my mind that guitar would be way better than a us standard.

But hey all I care about is i a happy with the guitar and it sounds great.

looks good to me...it`s {censored}in impossible to please everybody...just look at all the relic threads around the web to see what I mean...so, ya just gotta please your self. You`re happy, thats all that matters. I never turned a good guitar down because it was reliced nor have I ever bought one simply because it was reliced. Sometimes ya just gotta buy a good guitar regardless of what all the people you`ve never met on the web are going to say.
