In one volume pot configurations, the volume pot adds resistance to the hot connection between pickups/switches etc (looks like that comes from the 5 way switch) and the hot side of the jack socket

In one tone pot configurations, the tone pot puts a variable resistor and fixed capacitor (RC filter) between the hot connection from pickups/switches etc and ground (earth).

If you connect the hot side from pickups/switches etc directly to the hot side of the jack socket and disconnect the tone pot, you will have removed both from the circuit.

Make sure that all earths are actually still earthed.

I have no idea what this will be like - do it at your own risk.

Do you still want to keep the pickup selector?

i'd like to if possible.

i use the neck pickup almost exclusively and occasionally use the middle pickup or use the s-1 switch and the pickup selector in the two position which wires the neck and middle pickup at the same time.

disconnecting the vol and tone pots will not affect the switching

will i have to solder anything if i use your suggestion. i have never done anything like this before so i didnt really understand what wires you were talking about in your description

you will have to solder whatever you do make this change. That is a good skill to get anyway.

If you want to do it yourself, take some time to read up about circuits for pickups - its quite simple and will help you long term. Try searching "basic guitar electronics"

If you don't want to, its an easy change for a guitar tech to do and you could watch.

A. That is NOT the S1 schematic, the S1 has a hell of a lot more wires under the hood for the S1 switching, they look like this....

B. All you do is remove the HOT (white) wire running to the Volume side pot and run the wire directly to the jack instead. You can just as easily desolder the two white wires from the Volume pot and then connect them and soldered them and tape them off.

Then you disconnect both HOT (white) wires running to the Tone pots.

And voil
