Members Acid Test
Has five of each type and no recent feedback as a seller. Prices seem too low. Any ideas? http://shop.ebay.com/tonyguitarzone159753/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340
Members jelloman
the prices aren't low, but what I don't like is his use of stock pics instead of showing his actual instruments...and also not including cases...

Are you sure they are stock pictures. If so, you can see a wrinkle in the white paper the guitar is being photographed against.

Members Acid Test
Why do you think they are fakes?EG Not sure they are but just asking the question. The guy magically has five of each and has never sold a thing on E-bay in the last year or more. The price for these as new is also lower than normal. Members tiltsta
The black and white bullseye model should have a gold stamped serial number and epi logo, but the guitar in the picture is stamped in black ink. That guitar is a fake, which makes me think all the others are as well. Steer clear. Steer way clear. Here is a link showing the correct headstock markings compared to a fake. The fake in the example below looks identical to the guitar in the auction. http://aceguitarshop.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=22&Itemid=
Members Elias Graves
Now this one's pretty easy to spot. The cuts are uneven around the top. Man, I'm awful at spotting fakes. Some of them are really good. EG

Members tiltsta
I'm no expert on epi guitars, but the picture on the page I linked of a real epi ZW looks exactly like the version on epi's page, the ones in the auctions look like the example of a fake. There are lots of pages out there on spotting fake epi zakk wylde guitars, as this is one of the most commonly faked guitars these days. Not sure if those are real (like if epi changed their labeling scheme), but based on what I have seen, it wouldn't be a big surprise for all of those to be fakes. EDIT: Huh, I guess epi must have changed their labeling color scheme. I wonder if this coincides with the move of their production facility to China a few years ago. Bottom line, you can never really tell, and if you are concerned, get it through a real epi dealer.

I am thinking the same thing too - the move to China brought a change of ink. If so, Epi should have known better with all of the fakes out there. thanks!! Members Acid Test
I ended up getting one of these guitars after asking a few questions. But it does turn out that at least the Buzzsaw and the Bullseye guitars are fakes so now I am scrambling to get my money back with the seller. Ebay assured me that their buyer protection plan will cover this but I have to take delivery of the guitar first before they can act. Buyer beware!! Members EADGBE
Just buy a real Epiphone. They don't cost that much. If you buy a fake you'll just encourage the Chinese to counterfeit more.

Members Acid Test
so how did you find out AFTER you bought one? Not trying to be a smartass or anything, but I want to know. I spent several hours on the web looking at fakes and real ones - yep, something I should have done before buying. Hopefully this saves somebody the crap that is coming. Members harold heckuba
You are going to be screwed with ebay because proving it is a fake to them is nigh impossible.
Members drawdeep
Yeah, there is a sudden flood of Epi Customs on ebay that are at least suspicious... one fuzzy pic or stock pic, zero feedback sellers (or one feedback from someone else with zero feedback). I bid on one about a week back even though the pic was a little dicey. Seller immediately came back to me and said he would sell me one, but would not send pics of actual guitar. Referred me to his website, but did not give the URL. Now the auction has been removed, along with all his others. I dodged a bullet, it seems... CAVEAT EMPTOR! Members drawdeep
Here is one example- Epiphone using same description as the one I bid on... this one has a Gibson stock photo Another from the same seller with the right stock photo... If you go to the website, the pics of actual guitars are laughable... Check out the Epi Gothic that says Gibson on the headstock
