Looks like Behringer treats employees better than Gibson

How about this as a compromise EG? We'll LOVE Gibson's product but HATE the management, then for Behringer, just do the reverse!

I think it should be the same for both. Hate Management, love products.

Love the Behringer products cause they are OK quality & freaking disposable at the price they go for. Hate the management because they do what they do.

Choose your equipment on whatever basis you'd like. I love Gibson guitars personally. You can choose to chastise on the basis of reliability etc. But if you have a problem with Behringers lack of "R&D", then you better cast the same stone at any company, whose equipment you own and praise that's guilty of the same thing. As a company, Behringer seems to be the recipient of incomplete due diligence by it's detractors.

I should be getting my Behringer powered speaker back from repair any time now after it burnt up.

..."You should all be proud of what we have accomplished in the past 20 years," he declared. "But we've only started, and the next 20 years are bound to be even more exciting."

Today, China. Tomorrow, the world!

Regarding Gibson: I have to wonder about some of the hate from former employees. I've worked at some high end manufacturers before and I can attest it's a major pain in the ass to work there. The standards are extremely high and there's no tolerance for not doing the right thing.

No idea if that's the case with Gibson but I could see that being the case.

Many places that make, say, custom furniture, have a lot of turnover simply because most slackers can't take the environment. You don't get to be the big dog by having a lax atmosphere. It's pretty demanding.

Man, that article for Gibson paint s pretty grim picture. If they continue to delay financial reporting (which is already a very bad sign) we may see the loans getting called in which would mean bankruptcy almost certainly...

Maybe Behringer will end up buying Gibson. Then we can buy guitars that burn up to go along with their amps.

The tall tell sign of big trouble is the turn over of 3 CFOs in one year. We're not talking about guys walking the floor (though that's where a bunch of complaints likely came from) but from the position responsible for financial planning/reporting and larger fiscal decisions within a company. The terms of their departure hasn't been disclosed to my knowledge but if they all met the scrutiny to be hired, one wonders why they left or were fired.

I've said it before, I love the idea of Gibson as a company. I'd simply never pay their prices. I don't want to see them fail. But things aren't looking good.

I would guess it would be easier to throw money at things like an onsite health clinic and employee food service when you don't need to fund a R&D department?

What R&D does Gibson do? I could poll a kindergarten class and come up with better designs than a "Dusk Tiger".

True. Like I said, I'm not privy to anything inside of Gibson. My point simply was that we don't know what's behind what goes on.

The financial news (or lack of same) is troubling. I hate to see an iconic name like Gibson fade away.

Love their products, hate the prices. As much as I like the stuff they build, it irks me to see what they ask for some of it.

You'd think with those kinds of prices, they'd be fat with cash. I can imagine their margins are pretty high.
