Arguing is more popular than killer guitar playing around here. I think that performance is especially amazing considering there is no bass or drums. Blug's dynamics here are incredible. He gets so many sounds out his Strat without touching a pedal.

It's late and I am not going to watch it yet, but I'll check it out in the morning. I'm a huge Blug fan even though I've only heard him on the internet. I believe he's an H&K guy too. He's talented as hell.

Members Eddie
I believe he's an H&K guy too. I first learned about him when the zenTera came out. IIRC, H&K had already done some modeling stuff but from an engineering perspective. Blug brought his experience as a guitarist, plus a nice collection of vintage amps as well. The result was a modeling amp that not only sounded but also responded like a great tube amp. BTW, I saw many of his zenTera videos on YouTube years after I bought the amp, and did not like the sounds he was getting Love that amp, though, but not the online samples. He does all the demo clips and videos too. His main amp is the TriAmp MKII which is a beast.
Members Eddie
Agreed. Blug's zenTera videos are on Youtube now. I was watching them yesterday and thinking "Mine sounds better than that". I chalked it up to my using a 4x12 instead of the combo. Some of it sounds good but the Marshall -y tones (which I use 98% of the time) didn't sound as smooth or beefy as what I hear in my rig. It's too bad they couldn't produce the zenTera at a lower price point. If it would have been more affordable, that amp would have ruled the world. I still find it much better than any other modeling amp (or any other amp) I've tried. The only one that would probably beat it is the Axe FX but I haven't played through one as of yet. My combo also sounds better than Blug's I saw Rush a few years ago and Lifeson sounded great. I think he used 2 zenTeras and another H&K amp. I like the idea of the Axe FX but from what I've heard over the internet I prefer the zenTera. Months ago someone did offer his Axe FX Ultra in exchange for my zenTera, but then disappeared! Because of my herniated discs I do prefer a rack unit or a pedalboard these days. I would love to see an updated zenTera in a pedalboard format. When the zen was discontinued he switched the zen's out for Switchblades and added 2 more 4x12s. I bought a Switchblade head to see if it sounded better and in a direct A/B comparison the zenTera thoroughly destroyed it. I don't know how heavy the zen combo is (I'll bet it's a bunch though) but have you thought about getting a head and a 2x12 cab? You could use a roller dolly like this and it may be easier on you. Here's a pic I took when I was comparing the Switchblade and the zenTera.
Members Eddie
Last time I used a head and cabinet was with a Marshall JCM-800 in the 90s. Now I use a Boss GT-10 In terms of convenience, I love it. Not the greatest sounds, but good enough for now. That carrying bag looks good, but just picking up a head or a combo is difficult for me these days. I would need help to put the head inside the bag. H&K should come up with something like the GT-10. An updated z-Board that includes the amps and effects.

The amps are not quite as good as the zen but they are close. The cleans are excellent on the GSP but the zen's Marshall models are more three dimensional and "alive" sounding. The GSP's effects are very good though. I've been tweaking away at the GSP and have gotten it close. I don't use the amp models in it now but I want them dialed in to use as backup if anything happens to the zen. The general consensus at TGP is that the RP sounds better than the Boss. Members Eddie
I've read good things about the RP-1000, but decided to go with the Boss. I got a very nice deal on mine. I don't recall exactly why I chose it over Line6 and Digitech, but I've had great experiences with Roland products (GR-33, VG-88, FC-300). The amps are not that good, but I liked the versatility and I really like how it sounds straight to the PA. My first multi-fx was a Digitech GSP-21 (or 21 Pro). It's amazing how much better and cheaper multi-fx are these days
Members expat701
Some trivia for you... being an Aussie I used to go and see Tommy Emmanuel playing with his brother Phil Emmanuel in a band called Gold Rush in the early 80's. Tommy was their drummer. That's right - drummer! Gold rush were a Country Rock band. They did a fantastic cover of Sweet Home Alabama. Phill was their lead guitarist and one of the fastest players I remember seeing. He was shredding even before I'd heard that word. Tommy and Phil used to do a thing mid set where they would play a guitar together - one fretting/one picking. Other than that Tommy never touched guitar during a Gold Rush gig. Later Tommy and Phil began to play together (mainly acoustic) as the Emmanuel Brothers. I'd see them perform for free at my local pub. Moving on Tommy is now a famous Aussie guitarist whereas Phil is relatively unknown. I believe that's because Tommy went the more "commerical" route playing guitar in commercially successful bands etc, whereas Phil stuck to his journeyman routes. Phil is a session player and has a big following over here in the Blues scene. Phil is an awsome player!

Members Brian May
I love Thomas Blug - brilliant guitarist...just not high profile. But he's way better than many of the bigger names like err Clapton. IMO of course.
