So I had this Ibanez RGT42DXFX that I got off of ebay for $212; it had some fret buzz that was annoying, so I decided to go trade it in at the local guitar store (not GC). I was hoping to get $125 or maybe if I got lucky $150. I was upfront with the guy (I been going there for over 10 years) and let him know that it has some fret buzz. He went to go help another customer and that's when I spotted the SG...

I picked it up and started strumming and was surprised by how much I liked it. the guy offered me the SG for my RGT!! Straight up!!! I took that deal so quick, I literally don't even remember considering it I just said yes instantly.

I ended up trading an RGT I got for $212 for a Gibson SG!:thu::love::evil:

I'll post pics as soon as someone can tell me how best to clean it up; it's the natural mahogany finish (or lack of) and I was thinking of just using Murhpy's Oil Soap (I really hope I haven't just embarrassed myself), but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Here are some pics; sorry for the poor quality. It's not an April Fools day joke, lol.

I did trade it cause of the fret buzz, yup. I had already spent $50 on one guy trying to fix it, and I'm not inclined to spend even more when I could trade it in and let them absorb that cost (at my expense on the trade in)> I love getting different things though, I always trade things so I guess I can admit that the buzz was maybe a convenient excuse to move it.

So anyone got a suggestion for the best way to clean this baby up?

Thanks!

Congrats, brah. You are now the official owner of an SG Faded. They retail for $700. I didn't pay that much for mine ;) Mine is the same color (of course) but I'm a bit jealous of your grain. I don't know if the the grain affects the toan but that little swirley you have is pretty sweet. These guitars also come in brown.

If yours has the same pups as mine the bridge pup will be quite a bit higher than the neck pup. This is to keep the volumes the same. I am constantly adjusting the heights of the pups. Sometimes I like the pups to break up, sometimes I don't :idk: Playing high gain metal stuff sounds better when the bridge pup is raised a bit.

I mostly just play on the neck pup with the volume and tone rolled off a bit. that's probably a personal thing though :idk: When I first got the guitar I couldn't get off the bridge, now I can't get off the neck. It really does have a unique voice when you clean it up. People always ask what kind if guitar it is when they hear it recorded.

(o)(o) Any guitar in trade for an Ibanez is a good deal.

They seem like good guitars to me :idk: What don't u like about them? resale? tremolo?

sfarsky- the reason I dislike most Ibanez guitars is the necks, I just have a hard time with the super thin profiles, I have arthritis in my wrists and hands and super flat thin necks just kill me to play.

Plus I am not a huge fan of tremelos other than the Bigsby.

HNGD! I have a 07 Faded SG that I love. It's a great guitar. It has the same finish as yours. I traded in a $100 bass and got mine for $368 including taxes. It was a deal that I couldn't pass up and the bass was just sitting in the corner.
