i was a little nervous. people say its best to hide under your desk, but actually, a good spot is standing underneathe a door passage, because the frame is reinforced and will widthstand the ceiling caving in above it.

exactky what i did i got under the door frame.

Please guys, screw doorways, better to get the hell out of the house and into the backyard or any open space as quick as you can.

Glad to hear everyone is all right, keep safe and heads up for after shocks. Here's some reading for you. Yeah, I live in a heavy earthquake zone too.

San Fernando Valley here , felt like a rolling motion stopped then started again a few seconds later,i knew it had to be big somewhere. mexicali was the epicenter (mex/cali border) 6.9 good size!!.

L.A. hasn't had a big one since the northidge in '94.it was 2 miles from where i live.

Time to start preparing ,canned food, water etc. if it's any indication from around the world.it's coming!

It's been extremely active in Oklahoma this year as well. We'll normally have maybe 8-12 a year around 2.0 or so. This year it's been twice that many already and they are running 2.8-3.4.

Certainly no 7, but there does seem to be a lot of activity the last five years or so.

Route 66, between Victorville and Barstow.

I was in a parked RV, and I thought someone was jumping up and down on the bumper. Then I heard the earthquake announcement on the radio.

The last time I was in a vehicle during an earthquake, I was stopped at a signal-light, and I thought someone had jumped in the back of my pickup. Not scary, but noticeable.

Makes me think that house should be built like cars--a little shaking, but nothing gets broke.
