as some of you may know, we bought a new house back in late February and almost all of time has been spent trying to make a house a home. it represents a major upgrade in living space for us (both quality and quantity). i've learned more about myself and my own abilities in the last five weeks than ever before as i took on a number of what i'd consider significant renovation and 'handy-man' type projects. fortunately i didn't electrocute myself or burn the house down, and everything is looking really good so far. anyway...

while all this house-stuff was going on, i did manage to acquire a few new guitars and just got around to taking pictures of them this morning. here's one of them for your (hopefully) viewing pleasure. i'll post pics of the others in a separate thread shortly.

"It's the SG that Gibson wishes it could make"- that's the first thing i said to myself after picking this all mahogany Hamer USA Studio up and playing it. Great weight, nicely balanced, full '59 neck carve and flawless craftsmanship that few companies like Hamer are known for. the pics definitely don't do this guitar justice. the finish is thin and transparent so the grain of the mahogany really comes through nicely. Sounds like the best sounding SG I've ever heard.

no flames, no wild finishes, no over-the-top inlays on this one. just straight-forward, simple and perfect. enough typing; here's pics!

Very nice. I have officially become a Hamer junkie over the last few months, having picked up two. I can't see any reason to buy another brand, as the quality of these guitars surpasses almost everything else out there right now. Hope she sounds good in the new house.

That guitar oozes quality. Just so beautiful.

I'm impressed with your achievements as a home improver. You are a man of many skills.
:thu:

hey, thank you Jkater! my home improvement skills might be laughable attempts to some, but i'm proud of them (and end up saving a ton on labor). i'll keep learning as i go and try not to irrevocably damage something along the way... :)
