Members twotimingpete
if done properly, can they always be removed and the finish restored to how it was (without any refinishing) or can the stickers actually leave permanent marks?

Members PunkKitty
It depends on the type of finish, the adhesives used on the stickers and what the stickers are made out of. I'm not a big fan of stickers on guitars, but to each his/her own.
Members trashedlostfdup
i would say on a poly finish, go for it if its your thing. i hate stickers on guitars, but i would imagine the worst case scenario having to lightly wetsand the guitar and buff it to factory shine. not a big deal. Members MrChitlins
They can also harm a guitars finish by protecting it. I pulled a sticker off an SG JR I was selling, and there was a spot in the shape of the sticker completely free of pick scratches. Looked odd. Members DaleH
Any sticker left on to long will leave a mark. The paint or plastic around the sticker ages. You may not notice the finish aging untill youi pull the pickguard or some part off. Stiickers do the same thing. I have seen factory stickers leave marks on guitars that have been in a store a long time..
Members twotimingpete
so essentially the main risk is that if you leave them on for an extended period, the finish itself will age differently around it bceause the sticker is protecting it from the elements. correct? Sometimes, and sometimes the sticker glue soaks into the finish and ruins it.
