Members VanR
Since I turned 51 on Monday I am now officially old. 50 was just a farce, now at 51 it's getting serious. Wife appeased my now senile, poopy-pants (not really) old assed self with some new gear. First off was a cheap Samick LP knock off and with the exception of the bridge pickup being a little muddy it's really a kick-ass guitar new for less than 3 bills with a HSC no less. Next was something I'd wanted for a while. Hughes and Kettner Statesman Dual EL34 with matching 4X12 cab. I needed this like a hole in the head, but damn it I deserve it. That's all. Carry on. Members vintage clubber
happy birthday, Van! I'm 3 years behind you plus a day! Those Samick Greg Bennett designs are nice guitars. The stock pickups are Duncan Designs, typically the HB103 set which I believe is the DD version of the Jazz/JB combo. I wish Samick hadn't eliminated the AV5 model which was P90 equipped... Y . ) 50 watts. 2 EL34's. Clean channel is yummy sounding and has a TWANG switch which gives you a Tele sort of sound. Drive channel has "classic rock" amounts of gain, not metal at all, but has a boost switch which adds some gain for leads. Also a second master volume (on the back) which can be set higher than the normal master for lead volume boosts. Can't wait to crank her on Sunday at band rehearsal. Yeah Chris I was really surprised at the Samick. It's an AV3 I think. Got it new for under $300 with a hardshell case. Might need to put a JB in the bridge position, but I do that with all my guitars.
